Tips for Dubai, UAE. Your tourist guide n°1

In a few years, Dubai has become essential. This city in the Middle East, where modernity, luxury and tradition mingle, symbolizes the new Arab dream.

In just 150 years, the small Bedouin village of Dubai has transformed into an ultramodern city. How can we imagine that in 1960 the city did not yet have electricity? The discovery of black gold in 1966 enabled its rapid development. As early as the 1970s, concrete buildings began to replace Bedouin tents, but it was not until the early 2000s that this desert state became the playground of imaginative international architects.

Dubai

Dubai Marina

Welcome to the epicenter of the cosmopolitan part of Dubai!

🔍Dubai Marina is an artificial canal city, built in 2003 along a 3 km stretch of the Persian Gulf coastline. Yep, it was only a decade ago that it was only a desert far from the city.

Well, times have changed, Dubai Marina has become the vibrant center and the hippest area of the city. 💃🎉

This is the best pedestrian part in Dubai: The Dubai Marina promenade!

I must admit It, It's one of the least pedestrian-friendly cities in the world, but since the marina opened in 2003, this 7km promenade has become the most popular tourist attraction.

📣 Make sure you wear comfortable shoes. This is a great walk to take

🚗How to get there?

Dubai Marina sits on the coast of the Persian Gulf west of Palm Jumeirah. It is 33 km from DXB Airport, about 30 minutes along Sheikh Zayed E11m road, but may take longer in traffic jams.

🚕Taxi / Careem: Careem (which are also yellow taxi cars) is a little cheaper but there is not a big difference in price between Taxi and Careem.

🚈 Dubai Marina Metro
The two most convenient stops are DMCC 1 station and DAMAC Properties Metro, which are also connected to the Dubai Tram.

🚊 Dubai Marina Tram
The Dubai Tram serves the entire Dubai Marina area in a circular loop.

📣If you are planning to take public transport while in Dubai, you are definitely going to need to purchase a transport ticket: a NOL Card which costs less.

💰 The Nol Silver Card costs 25 AED (of which 6AED is the processing price of the card + 19AED travel credit) the price of a metro trip is 3 AED (Zone1), 5AED (Zone2), 7.50 AED (Zone3 )

💁‍♀️ You can buy and top up your Nol Card at the counters and certain ticket machines in all metro stations.

What to do?

👛Shopping at Dubai Marina Mall: Set over four floors just off Pier 7, the Dubai Marina Mall is quite modest by Dubai's lavish standards, but has over 130 outlets, both luxury and small brands. prices, waterfront restaurants, a rooftop food court, supermarket, six-screen reel theaters and a children's play area

-🍽Eat: There is a great choice of restaurants along the promenade. I will discuss this in detail in a future post.

-🚴 Walking or cycling: You can register at BYKY stands and rent the bikes using your cell phone number.

- 🚤 YACHTS AND BOUTE CRUISES
There are a variety of cruises on Dubai Marina Walk: dinner, sunset and sightseeing cruises.

📍Pier 7, Dubai Marina

With spectacular views of Dubai Marina, yachts parked below, and twinkling lights as far as the eye can see, Pier 7 is arguably the chicest and trendiest place to eat at Dubai Marina.

7️⃣This emblematic building houses 7 refined restaurants on 7 floors. Each floor has a different kitchen.

📌Located in the heart of Dubai Marina, It is also connected to the Dubai Marina Mall via an air-conditioned walkway.

📣 Always book in advance. If you have an account in the Entertainer App and you are 2 people, you will pay for one main course instead of 2. Which is a great deal!
All restaurants have a terrace with the same view on different floors.

🍽The 7 restaurants:

Atelier M: located on the top floor, this is the most chic and expensive contemporary restaurant. Count more than 200AED per person.

🥢ASIA ASIA on the 6th floor. The interior of the restaurant is elegantly decorated. One of the best Asian restaurant and known for hosting popular sushi buffets in Dubai. Count over 150AED per person.
📣I must tell you that sushi in Dubai is a luxury! it's super expensive!

🥙ABD EL WAHAB: a Lebanese restaurant on the 5th floor and also the cheapest. Count around 60AED per person.
THE SCENE BY SIMON RIMMER an English pub-restaurant on the 4th floor

🍹CARGO on the 3rd floor: my favorite bar restaurant with a young atmosphere. The menu includes a mix of Thai, Japanese and Chinese dishes. Count around 150AED per person.

🍱MAMA ZONIA: serves Asian, Caribbean and Peruvian dishes on the 2nd floor. Count around 180AED per person.

💡Other restaurants to eat in Dubai Marina: NANDO’S my favorite! 🤤 MASSIMO’S ITALIAN RESTAURANT, MEMORY LANE (Indo Chinese), MIR AMIN (Lebanese restaurant), UNDER500 (healthy restaurant), Reem Al Bawad (Lebanese), PF Chang’s (Chinese).

🏨 Accommodation in Dubai Marina

The relatively new area of Dubai Marina and JBR is the most westernized area of the city, practically the only suitably pedestrianized part of the new Dubai and, in my opinion, the best place to stay in Dubai😍

🏖 JBR refers to the beach, the promenade and all the buildings that are on the front line.

🚤 The Marina is right behind, including the tallest skyscrapers 🏙 and the canal.

🥳 Most western expats choose to live here, as it is the youngest and most lively place in the city and well served by public transport (tram and metro)

📣This is an expensive area, in fact one of the most expensive in Dubai, although you can find a few budget options.

🛌 Where to sleep? The Dubai Marina area is best known for its plentiful supply of apartment hotels and Airbnb options, often in penthouses. I highly recommend that you take an Airbnb, a shared room would be more economical (from 💰 300 Moroccan dhs going up to 10,000 dhs).

📣Don't worry, it's not Paris, the rooms are generally super spacious with en-suite bathrooms. You feel limited in a hotel.

🏖The Beach by JBR

And here is the most famous, popular and easily accessible beach: The Beach by JBR (Jumeirah Beach Residence)!

🏖 This lively cosmopolitan area is a veritable seaside resort open to all in a contemporary atmosphere.

Transport:
Easily accessible from any part of Dubai.
🚇 get off at Damac Properties metro station, change to the Tramway 🚃 at Dubai Marina and then get off at Jumeirah Beach Residence 1 station or at Jumeirah Beach Residence 2 station, from there you can walk to the beach.

🍽The Beach JBR is bordered by a multitude of cafes, bars and restaurants. You can find all kinds of cuisine there, from fast food to fine dining.

🤸‍♀️Activities: In addition to shopping and the beach, The beach JBR also offers a cinema, a 600 m long running track, an outdoor gym, a beach volleyball court, play areas for children, water sports activities such as the Fly Board, Jet Ski or the Seabreacher, there is also the Flying Cup; a flying cut that allows you to treat yourself to a snack while enjoying the panoramic view of the beach 40 meters above ground level.

📣 It’s the most crowded beach in Dubai.

The Palm Jumeirah

📍The Palm Jumeirah

This is arguably one of the most talked about projects in the world, along with the Burj Khalifa and the Mall of the Emirates ski slope. The almost man-made island in the shape of a palm tree is the largest man-made archipelago in the world. It adds 120 kilometers to the coast of Dubai, creating many areas for living, recreation and entertainment.

🌴 Dubai is known the world over for its innovations and Palm Jumeirah is a perfect illustration of this. Seen from above, the man-made island looks like a stylized palm tree, constructed from reclaimed land and a series of man-made archipelagos.

🏨 Some of the most luxurious resorts in Dubai including Atlantis, The Palm, Jumeirah Zabeel Saray, One & Only The Palm have settled on Palm Jumeirah.

🍹The island has many restaurants and beach clubs that are worth a visit even if you are not staying in one of the establishments, not to mention the must-see The Pointe and its splendid fountain.

📣A project never finished
Due to the financial and real estate crisis which hit Dubai very hard, the construction of the houses on the palm tree was initially delayed, before coming to a complete stop. Today, entire branches of the palm tree are empty.
Despite a sharp drop in prices (there are villas on the palm tree for quite acceptable prices), Dubai is currently sorely lacking in people to populate all these housing.

🔍The other palm trees and Dubai World
Two other palm trees, even larger than the one in Jumeirah, were to be created in Dubai. Jebel Ali is now a sandbar that is gradually crumbling, while Dubai World has never left the sea.

🏖 West Palm Beach

🏖 West Palm Beach is without a doubt one of the hippest places in Dubai Palm Jumeirah right now.

📍You will find it on the trunk of Dubai's Palm Jumeirah - a long stretch of sand with a 1.6 km promenade with a view of the best views of the Dubai Marina towers in the background.

🌊 Adventure enthusiasts will be delighted with the range of water sports offered here, namely kayaking, virtual reality diving, stand-up paddle, electric hydrofoil, waterbike, catamaran trips and even more.

🍽If you're feeling hungry, opt for one of the many beachfront restaurants including Koko Bay, Jones The Grocer, Aprons and Hammers, Lucky Fish, Señor Pico, Orange Chameleon.

🏨 The Palm West Beach also gives you access to eight five-star hotels: the Fairmont The Palm, the Five Palm Jumeirah (I will discuss this in detail in a future post), the SOHO Palm Jumeirah, the Adagio Aparthotels, the Byblos, the Hilton Palm Jumeirah, and the One Palm.

FIVE Palm Jumeirah

Dubbed the hottest hotel in Palm Jumeirah, FIVE Palm Jumeirah is a hotel that dares to be different, that captures glamor and ambiance.

🛏Situated in a breathtaking setting overlooking the towers of Dubai Marina and the Arabian Gulf, this hotel offers 470 luxurious rooms and suites with ocean or city views.

🎉The resort is a party and foodie hotspot with an array of restaurants, bars and a nightclub, making it a must-see destination for vacationers and residents of Dubai.

📣I do not recommend this hotel to families with children due to the festive atmosphere and the layout of this hotel.

🌅 You can admire the breathtaking Dubai Marina district and its skyscrapers but also the wonderful sunset every evening from the famous lounge The Penthouse.

🍹Bars and restaurants:
3 restaurants, 3 cafes, 5 bars and lounges and two clubs.
Quattro Passi for Italian, Maiden Shanghai for Chinese and a brasserie open all day at BLVD On One.
Late night entertainment continues at the Beach Club, Elevate or The Penthouse located on the hotel's rooftop.

🏖 Beach by FIVE a private beach with deckchairs, cabanas, Jacuzzis and a breathtaking glass-enclosed swimming pool topped with a magnificent chandelier giving you the perfect Instagram photo and the best pool beach parties.

💰 Access to the private beach is free even for non-residents. From 1200aed / double room.

🏖The Pointe

If you are looking for a more family-friendly entertainment complex than West Palm Beach in Palm Jumeirah, the Pointe is the place!

🗓The Pointe opened in December 2018, offering the best views of Atlantis The Palm.

🔍It has a 1.5km promenade with more than 100 restaurants, bars and shops by the sea.

📍The Pointe is located at the top of the man-made trunk of the Palm Jumeirah in Dubai, opposite the world famous resort Atlantis The Palm. It's a soft W shape that hugs the coastline with a huge dancing water fountain

⛲️ The Palm Fountain became the largest fountain in the world when it opened on October 22, 2020, offering choreographed dancing water shows every night of the week. It is also the only multi-colored fountain in Dubai.

🕰There are five shows every night, from 7 p.m. to midnight.

🚗The best way to get to The Pointe is by car as there are 1,600 parking spaces. You can also take a taxi, Uber or Careem. A Palm Monorail station will soon open at The Pointe.
Restaurants

🍽Restaurants: There's it all, Chuan, who is a past winner of Time Out Dubai's Best Chinese Restaurant, as well as Hook & Cook and Samakjé fish restaurants. There is also the Indian fusion restaurant and bar A Cappella, Instagram’s favorite Brunch & Cake and the best Lebanese restaurant Al Safadi.

🍹Bars: Bars at The Pointe include A Cappella and Kyo, as well as nightlife spots Phantom House and Chalet Berezka.

🌅 If you are looking for sunsets with sea view, you have come to the right place.

🏨 Atlantis The Palm Hotel

Posed like a fairytale castle like a crown of the famous artificial island The Palm Jumeirah, l 'hotel Atlantis The Palm seems to have sprung from a dream!

🚗It can be accessed either by car or by a monorail which is placed delicately between the hotel and the nautical park.

📣There is another Atlantis in the Bahamas from the same owner: the famous South African Sol Kerzner.

🍽Restaurants at Atlantis Dubai:
Foodies will love this hotel. Nowhere else in the world will you find so many celebrity chefs, award-winning restaurants and quirky brunches in one place.

-Nobu, the sublime Japanese-Peruvian cuisine by famous chef Nobu Matsuhisa
-Bread Street Kitchen & Bar by Gordon Ramsay Offering modern British specialties, known for its brunches.
-Ronda Locatelli with a menu selected by the famous MasterChef Italian Giorgio Locatelli.

Downtown Dubaï

📍Dubai Mall

And here is the biggest shopping center in the world: the Dubai Mall!

🏙It opened in 2008 and it is much more than a classic shopping center:
• It occupies more than a million square kilometers!
• There are more than 1150 different shops…
• It is home to an Olympic ice rink, the Dubai Ice Rink, the famous Dubai Aquarium and the Underwater Zoo
• More than 50 million people go there each year…
• And finally the famous biggest fountain of the world which is the city's most popular attraction.

⛲️ Dubai Fountain Show
If the Dubai Fountain were a simple fountain, it would already be impressive. And yet, a grandiose spectacle, a mixture of plays of light from various jets of water and all set to music, has been added to this fountain.

🎶 Several styles of music can be used: classical, international or Arabic music.

🕰The Dubai Fountain show takes place several times a day:
• afternoon show (every day except Friday): 1:00 p.m. and 1:30 p.m.
• afternoon show, Friday : 1:30 p.m. and 2:00 p.m.
• in the evening, whatever the day of the week, from 6:00 p.m. to 11:00 p.m., show every 30 minutes.

🌙 I recommend attending the show in the evening with the illuminated buildings and the light show of the water jets.

💃Where to best enjoy the Dubai Fountain Show:
• from the walk around the fountain basin for free
• from the Dubai Fountain Boardwalk, a floating platform with a charge of AED 20.
• from an abra (traditional wooden boat) with the Dubai Fountain Lake Ride
• From a terrace cafe restaurant at the Dubai Mall or the famous Souk Al Bahar restaurant.

🍽 Restaurants

I present to you my two favorite restaurants that I have tried in Dubai Mall.

📍Logma

If you are passing through Dubai, you should definitely try a local dining experience and Logma is the perfect restaurant.
It is Khaliji cuisine revisited in a modern way in a lovely colorful setting with a breathtaking view overlooking the fountain of Dubai.

🍚I tried two succulent dishes:
LOGMA CHICKEN RICE at 💰 64 AED: Aromatic rice dish made with whole spices, chicken, star anise, bay leaves, cloves and pods of cardamom, served with a raita sauce
and MACHBOUS CHICKEN at 💰 64 AED: chicken marinated in Khaleeji spices, cooked with yellow rice and served with a raita sauce.

🍨 And for dessert: PISTACHIO MAFROUKEH at 38AED 💰

📍Hurricane’s Grill

Hurricane's Grill is a family-style Australian steakhouse, with South African and Portuguese influences on its menu.

🍔 Appreciated for its steaks, ribs and of course their big burger.

📣I advise you to go there when you are hungry, otherwise you will have a hard time finishing the plate 😛

📍Burj Khalifa

And here is the tallest tower on the planet!

This tower that crowns the Dubai skyline has broken multiple records: in addition to being the tallest building ever, rising to 828 meters, its 162 floors are connected by elevators at unprecedented speed (10 m / s).

🔭Belvederes of the Burj Khalifa

The Burj Khalifa has two belvederes that offer surprising views:

On the 124th floor, located 442 meters high, you will find the one that was until then the only belvedere of the Khalifa Tower.

The recently inaugurated second belvedere has become a real eye-catcher since it became the highest in the world (in front of the Canton Tower in Guangzhou). Located 555 meters high, the belvedere is on the 148th floor.

🎫 You should know that tickets usually run out early. It is therefore recommended to buy the ticket online on its official website as soon as possible.

🌅 The best time to go up there and the most popular is the sunset. If you can't buy tickets for this hour, be aware that the view is better day than night.

📣The Burj Khalifa is visible 95 kilometers away.

Restaurant At.mosphere à Burj Khalifa

Enter the world's tallest restaurant at the 442-meter-high Burj Khalifa for a unique dining experience.

📍Located at the Burj Khalifa, the beautifully decorated At.mosphere restaurant located on the 124th floor offers a unique view of Dubai and the Persian Gulf. From this view, we realize that Dubai embodies the dream of modernity in the middle of the desert.

📞Best way to book is by phone: +971 4 888 3828.

📣I went there for breakfast. Everyone recommended this to me and I was really not disappointed. It’s a once in a lifetime experience.

🍹Drinks are expensive, but still cheaper than a ticket to the Burj Khalifa Observation Deck (prices start from $ 40), and you get pretty much the same view.

🍲When you arrive at the At.Mosphere restaurant, you can choose between breakfast, snack, light lunch or fine dinner.

📣The best tables in the restaurant have a view of the Dubai Fountain.

🍽Its menu offers revisited basics including oysters and caviar, foie gras and truffles, beef tagines or chocolate desserts. The restaurant offers an exceptional dining experience at a price of 200 euros. A "Lunch" formula is also available for 100 euros. It includes a starter and a main course or a main course and a dessert. A “starter, main course and dessert” version costs 130 euros for lunch.

Tips for Dubai

Visa and ticket for Moroccans

As much as a girl under 30 and single, we have been told that we do not give the Visa for single Moroccan girls! I can say that is wrong! In any case, not for me.

I took the post with Emirates Airlines at 6600 Moroccan dhs 💰. Then I applied for the visa with them online here at 900dhs 💰 Moroccan. And bam I received my Visa after two days (it can be up to a week)

It is true that at first glance, we are a little afraid to take the ticket and not have a Visa. But normally it is done automatically. Once you have your ticket with Emirates we give you the Visa. The information filled in for Visa application is very basic and applies to all nationalities without any discrimination.

But I don't know how it goes if you take your ticket with another airline.

The App Entertainer

My secret to this trip is the Entertainer app, which saved my life and allowed me to do lots of activities and eat in lots of restaurants at half price!

The Entertainer is an institution in Dubai . You benefit (except public holidays) from vouchers on the principle of "1 bought equals 1 offered" in five main categories. To take advantage of it, all you need to do is download the app to your phone and purchase the package that suits you best.
